NOT A FACTORY GROUP: this is a workshop/atelier combination pairing modern Deore XT M8100 1x12 shifting components with older mechanical V-brakes, not a package assembled and sold as such by Shimano. The linked official page covers the M8100 hydraulic disc caliper, not a V-brake.

Live product page blocked automated access (403); data sourced from an archived copy. The page shows only the disc caliper, not the V-brake variant referenced in the configurator; explicitly labelled as not a factory group. Re-verified (2025-06-11): bike.shimano.com returns HTTP 403 Access Denied (Akamai) for every attempt from this sandbox, including multiple user-agents and with/without referer; the dealers.bike.shimano.com, si.shimano.com and dassets.shimano.com domains are also (partly) blocked. No reliable official photo could be downloaded.
Shimano only sells Deore XT M8100 with hydraulic disc brakes from the factory; the V-brake pairing in this configurator is a deliberate workshop choice for a retro/low-maintenance build and does not appear in Shimano's official groupset configurations.
These are our configurator packages, not necessarily the manufacturer’s stock specification.
The configurator estimate is not a quotation. Thomas confirms price, specification and availability.
Model code and generation identify the exact component. Similar names do not mean identical interfaces or specifications. For upgrades and replacements, version and model year matter; the newest version may not fit your bike.
Hydraulic disc brakes can provide strong, controllable braking, especially in rain and descents. Rim brakes require a suitable frame and braking surface. For loads and long descents, consider the complete brake, rotor, mounting and heat-management combination.
This determines whether parts work together mechanically, not visually. Frame generation, mounting, brakes and drivetrain must match. Upgrade only with a checked combination; Thomas confirms the exact version before assembly.
Stack and reach help define riding height and length; wheelbase and steering geometry affect stability and agility. Racers often want a lower position, endurance riders more comfort. Do not compare sizes by name alone; body measurements and a fitting matter.
