Shimano only sells Deore XT M8100 with hydraulic disc brakes from the factory; the V-brake pairing in this configurator is a deliberate workshop choice for a retro/low-maintenance build and does not appear in Shimano's official groupset configurations.

Hydraulic disc brakes can provide strong, controllable braking, especially in rain and descents. Rim brakes require a suitable frame and braking surface. For loads and long descents, consider the complete brake, rotor, mounting and heat-management combination.
This determines whether parts work together mechanically, not visually. Frame generation, mounting, brakes and drivetrain must match. Upgrade only with a checked combination; Thomas confirms the exact version before assembly.
Stack and reach help define riding height and length; wheelbase and steering geometry affect stability and agility. Racers often want a lower position, endurance riders more comfort. Do not compare sizes by name alone; body measurements and a fitting matter.
